It is a bittersweet goodbye (or “see ya later”) that we are saying to the beloved Maria Teresa Gaston. She is leaving the CCSJ to complete her doctoral studies in Organizational Psychology. This is an important and wonderful life step for Maria Teresa and we celebrate this new season of her life with her.
Maria Teresa was one of the founders of our Cortina Community and has continued to serve on the board since its beginning. To have to let her go hurts us, but excites us. That is how leaving usually is.
“Better is the end of a thing than the beginning” (Ecclesiastes 7:8) is a hard pill to swallow but what a joy it is to look back on all that has happened in her time here. The beginning is full of much potential, and the end is filled with the actual. And, in her case, there is a lot of “actual.” Our program, as wonderful as it is, is just the tip of the iceberg. And now, as she enters into this next phase, we pray for all the potential present at the beginning of this new season. We pray for excitement and anticipation for all involved with these next steps, for the actualization of hopes and desires.
Maria Teresa, Thank you. Thank you for all you have been, are, and will be in our lives and stories.
“The Lord bless you and keep you, make His face shine upon you, be gracious to you, lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
