Wednesday’s “What’s Up in the World?” [12.28.2012]

Hello lovely people of Cortina!

I know it’s a busy week for us all but here’s a quick update on things that are happening around our world!

“In a vacant lot valued at $25 million, refugees in Phoenix have become accidental farmers in an unlikely urban field that is part of an ambitious plan to transform unused land.”

“Rebels in eastern DR Congo say they have started withdrawing from territory they have captured from government troops, days after a pullout deal was reached in neighboring Uganda.”

“About 15% of the U.S. population experiences the problematic rhythmic change of the seasons. For these individuals, time itself is a stressor, and winter is often a season of despair.”
